Object description
The russian-language inscription on the back of the photograph, written in purple ballpoint pen, reads: "Ivanova A. M. Painted silk shawl. 1946. Moscow 1946". The photograph shows a full-length portrait of Antonina Ivanova in a three-quarter view with her head raised. The artist's shoulders are covered by a silk shawl with an intricate ornamental painting based on phytomorphic motifs. As the archive of Antonina Ivanova contains an official photograph of the artist with the same typeface background, this print was likely made at about the same time, especially given the identity of the hairstyle and make-up.
