Object description
The photograph shows a version of "Study of a Laundress" that was probably made in Moscow (according to the Ukrainian-language simple pencil inscription under the photograph) in the late 1920s – 1930s (we propose the dating as it is missing in the signature). The stylistics of this version is closer to the final version of the painting (this particular motif was never used), which is now kept in the Gallery and is a valuable source of information on both the stages of the preparatory process and the nature of the search for imagery.
