Object description
The photograph captures a profile view of an 18th-century polychrome wooden sculpture from the Gallery’s collection. The nature of the photography indicates that it was taken for internal museum documentation. The sculpture is photographed against a neutral, mid-tone background, with the object placed on a plinth of unestablished height. The undeniable value of this photographic document lies in its record of the object’s history at a certain stage of its existence, specifically its condition between conservation interventions and toning.
