Object description
The photograph captures the sculptural group "Humanists" by Wacław Szymanowski from the Gallery’s collection. The work, depicting three male figures in long cloaks united by a narrative gesture, belongs to the monumental multi-figure composition "Procession to Wawel Castle" (1911–1912). The plasticity of the work leans towards early 20th-century Symbolist-Secessionist sculpture, with an emphasised expression of faces and hands. The nature of the photography indicates that it was taken for internal museum documentation. The sculptural group is photographed against a neutral, mid-tone background. The undeniable value of this photographic document lies in its record of the work’s history at a certain stage of its existence.
