Object description
In the first half of the 18th century, the role of burghers increased considerably, which led to the emergence of burghers’ portraits. They were painted mainly by provincial artists. The ceremonial portrait shows a mature man. The man is presented in a formal pose, slightly turned, dressed in a terracotta kontush over a white żupan and girded with an expensive kontush belt. The portrait is characterized by a flat painting manner. A replica of this portrait is preserved in the collection of the Lviv National Art Gallery.
