Object description
In 1768, the work titled as "The Image of the Head Encircled by Flowers" in the inventory records of the Pidhirtsi Castle hung in the Crimson Room. In 1859 and 1887, the portrait was titled as "Flowers" in the descriptions of the Rzewuski collection and was in Pidhirtsi until 1939. In the old photographs of the Crimson Room, we can see a similar painting, which is now in Tarnow. The canvas depicts a male profile head in a wreath painted with restrained colors. The central image in a round medallion on a stand decorated with white and pink flowers is executed skillfully. The artist masterfully depicted nature, namely flowers, leaves, and birds.
