Object description
Scholastyka Nikorowicz (1713–1787) – Armenian by descent from the Augustinowicz family, wife of Dominik Nikorowicz. The chamber image represents the half-length figure of a woman, standing against a dark background. Scholastyka is depicted in a pose characteristic of a ceremonial portrait: three-quarter reverse to the left. Every detail of the woman's costume is carefully outlined: on her head is a mob cap - a simple cap with ruffles, an ash-grey dress with a large collar. The artist in the image searched, above all, the expression of the inner substance of the portrayed, but not representativeness. The main emphasis in the work is on the calm, attentive focused face. On the back is the inscription: "O.Bielawski, pix: 1787 Ano./ Scholastyka z Augustinowiczow de Nikorowicz / 731 7-bris 1787 obijt".
