Object description
Cherubim are spirits who are closest to the Lord. They are often depicted with beautiful, bright faces in the form of heads with wings. The sculpture has a soft contour of a rounded face, a high open forehead, close-set eyes, a snub nose, chubby cheeks characteristic of the image, a barely noticeable smile on the lips, and a clearly defined small chin. Close-set eyes with a downward gaze give the image a concentrated look. The cherub's head is covered with massive strands of hair arranged in a voluminous hairstyle. The tiny wings with a carved pattern resembling feathers are decorated with shallow reliefs of smooth lines.
