The artist received his art education in Lviv, Warsaw, Krakow, and Vienna. His creative work was initially related to religious painting, as he painted about 120 altar icons. The artistic heritage of Marcin Jablonski includes 1600 portraits. In 1850, the artist founded a publishing and lithographic workshop in Lviv, where he himself worked.
Object description
The Biedermeier style combined the portraiture with the genre art, nurturing the genre painting. Jablonski's painting “Girl With Breakfast on a Tray” refers to such works. Perhaps, it was a kind of interpretation of “Chocolate Maker” by Liotard. This interpretation of the work is not an imitation, but a kind of artist's attempt to recapture everyday life in the spirit of the time. Everything in the painting is simple and touching. The image of the girl is elegant, full of attraction, warmth, calm confidence, and restrained dignity.
