Object description
A portrait from the early 19th century is created in the Romanticism style. Against a backdrop of an overcast sky, there is a waist-length depiction of a middle-aged man in a slight turn to the left. He is dressed in a brown frock coat, with a high old-fashioned collar (known as "father-murderer") and a white tie tied in a bow visible underneath. A black cloak is carelessly draped over the frock coat. The man's facial features are robust. His dark chestnut hair is combed over his forehead in the fashion of the time. A toothbrush-style moustache and a trim beard complete the look. The portrayed man looks at the viewer with a slight smile.
