Object description
A waist-length portrait of an aristocrat from the first half of the 19th century is set against a neutral light brown background. The woman is dressed following the fashion of the time. She is wearing a white Empire-style dress with puffed sleeves and a belt adorned with pearls, featuring an embroidered monogram with the letters "WS" beneath the bust (possibly representing "Sophia de Witt", 1760–1822). The outfit is complemented by a blue cashmere shawl with an ornamental border, which the woman holds with her left hand. Her accessories include four strands of pearls with a large brooch, silver earrings, and a silver tiara. The woman's dark hair is styled in a high updo with springy curls at the temples. Her cheeks have a rosy glow, and her hazel eyes gaze at the viewer. Her tightly compressed, curved lips create a dissatisfied expression.
