Object description
The skilfully modelled head of a young woman from the collection of Borys Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery by an unknown master of the late 15th century reflects the Renaissance understanding of man as a divinely inspired, self-sufficient and free being who, in connection with the transcendent, appropriately transforms the world around him. The Renaissance's "search for individuality" is reflected in the sculpture's inherent reproduction of unique portrait features.
