Object description
A full-figure image of a bearded nude man standing on tiptoes, stretching as if he had just woken up. The bearded man has both of his arms bent at the elbows behind the back of his head, tilting his head slightly down and to the right. The character's therianthropic nature is indicated only by the satyr's pointed ears, which are barely visible behind a neat wig-like hairstyle, and a small ponytail in the lower back. The broad beard is reminiscent of archaic sculptural images. The satyr's face has a snub nose and slightly bulging eyes. The author of the work skillfully worked out the plasticity of the athletic figure. The sculpture is mounted on a cubic pedestal made at a later date. The pedestal is placed on a rectangular plate of brass. No ancient or Renaissance prototypes of the sculpture have been found.
Inscriptions
The number “1298” is scratched on one of the pedestal's gutters. On the edge of the pedestal base written in white: “№ № С-І-562/Л.ОКГ”. On the bottom of the pedestal in the corner is a rectangular sticker with the number “18” (crossed out in red); in the centre there is a stamp in black: “GNML”. Below is a half-torn stamp with an inscription: “G.N.m.L/18” (crossed out in red).
