The engraving depicts Prince Genji, surrounded by his court ladies, against the branches of a maple tree with falling leaves. The women are dressed in richly embroidered kimonos, with hairstyles and decorations on their heads. Prince Genji kneels in front of a palanquin containing a note from his beloved and a branch of a maple tree and depicts numerous Monogatari of Prince Genji.
In the top right corner a calligraphic inscription in a cartouche and a serial number "16". Bottom left author's signature, censors' and publisher's stamps.
