Object description
The cherub sculpture served as a decorative element in the sacred space. The angel's head has been partially preserved. The cherub's round face, with generalised features, resembles a child's face, a characteristic of Baroque sacred sculpture, symbolising purity and harmony. The cherub's gaze is directed to the side, which gives the image liveliness and spaciousness. Below the head are carefully crafted wings, each feather clearly defined by shallow lines. The sculptural image of the cherub exhibits harmonious proportions, smooth lines, and a decorative role for the wings. The touching innocence is emphasised by the simplicity of the forms, the absence of sharp details, and the smoothness of the outlines. Despite the losses, the form remains expressive, allowing us to see the artistic idea.
