Biography
Stanislaw Wyspianski was born in 1869 in Krakow. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was a member of the Young Poland movement, and art editor of the weekly Życie (Life). Stanislaw Wyspianski is known as a playwright and poet, modernist painter, and designer. The artist died in November 1907. He was buried in Krakow.
Object description
a) The portrait represents a waist-length figure of a man (angel ?). His long hair is falling down on his shoulders. The defining features of the face are large and wide-open eyes, as well as full and stiff lips. He has a faraway look and his facial expression is distracted. The right hand is raised to the shoulder level; it is holding an object similar to a musical instrument. b) This is an architectural element that resembles a column in three-dimensional space.

a) At the top there is an illegible inscription in Polish. b) At the right top there is an illegible inscription. On the right bottom side of the work there is the author monogram.
