Biography
Stanislaw Wyspianski was born in 1869 in Krakow. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was a member of the Young Poland movement, and art editor of the weekly Życie (Life). Stanislaw Wyspianski is known as a playwright and poet, modernist painter, and designer. The artist died in November 1907. He was buried in Krakow.
Object description
This is a study of the woman's head in a headdress, from under which one can see a forelock evenly cut over the eyebrows. The defining facial features are skillfully depicted eyes (the gaze is directed at the viewer) and stiff lips.
Inscriptions
At the top there is an inscription written illegibly in Polish. At the bottom right there is the author monogram.
