Object description
A wooden headless female figure, being one of the paired figures of an unknown artist of the late 16th and early 17th centuries, comes from the village of Skelivka (Felsztyn) near Sambir, where the local church restored by Stanislaw Herburt is located. This period was the heyday of Renaissance art and Mannerism that was widely spread in Galicia. Mannerism was reflected in the capricious perspective and elongated proportions of the figure. The full-length figure depicts a woman dressed in a low-necked stylish dress with wide sleeves that go down with horizontal folds. There is a belt on the woman's thin waist. The head and hands of the figure are lost. However, the sculpture is a bright example of the author's talent and skill.
