Object description
An oval plate has raised rims. The plate’s background is covered with light green glaze. The whole surface of the plate is covered with the images of lotus flowers with seeds, chrysanthemums, carnations, peonies and camomiles, as well as pears, pomegranates, citrus medica (Buddha's fingers), and other exotic fruit together with the images of birds, butterflies, beetles, and insects depicted in a chaotic order. They are made of color enamels with prevailing various shades of pink. There is an image of a pheasant in the center of it. The plate is made for export and belongs to "Famille rose" ("pink family"). "Famille rose" (Chinese: Fen cai) is porcelain with prevailing pink colors. It first appeared during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor (1723–1735, Qing Dynasty). The technology of obtaining pink paint from burning off small crystals of tin and gold came to China from the West.
