Object description
The full-length figure of an angel is shown in motion with his arms outstretched. The angel is depicted as a small child in a graceful pose that follows the traditions of Baroque plastics. The child is recreated with anatomical accuracy: he is plump, with numerous folds on his torso, arms and legs. The naked body is covered only by a drapery, which flutters in a dynamic wave modelled by expressive lines that intersect and create geometric shapes. The sculpture is characterised by a dreamy and lyrical image, full of childlike naivety: the angel's round face is outlined by a soft oval line, he is depicted with a convex high forehead, small eyes covered by clear eyelid arcs, plump sagging cheeks, a half-open mouth, and a small expressive chin. The whole image of the angel is complemented by a neat hairstyle of wavy strands of hair falling over the shoulders, as well as tiny wings traced with a pattern that reproduces feathers.
