Biography
Szczesna Dzialynska was an amateur artist and the daughter of Bielsk Castellan Jakub Woronicz and Jozefa Drohojowska. In 1784, she became the wife of Polish general Ignacy Jozef Dzialynski, who participated in the Kosciuszko Uprising.
Object description
On a black background is a waist-length frontal portrait of a young woman in a blue dress with a neckline adorned with grey lace. A dark grey shawl falls from the girl's right shoulder. The woman's hair is chestnut brown and of medium length. She has a bright blush on her cheeks. Her confident blue eyes are directed at the viewer.
Inscriptions
On the reverse side is an inscription in Polish: "Hrabina Działyńska robiła ten swój portret swoją ręką w roku 1806".
