Object description
The sketch probably belongs to the same series as Ж-8181 and is an allegorical image relating to the exploration, protection and practical use of the world's oceans. The central image is an anthropomorphic silhouette resembling a bird taking off. The figure is surrounded by a mandorla-like glow, where, together with the chiton-like garment, we can note common formal characteristics with Ж-8184 and thus apply a similar interpretation. The miniature box of the ship depicted in the right part of the composition signals that it could be a military vessel, but the specifics of the build-ups are more typical of research or mixed-purpose boats. The whole scene is probably set against a background of stylised northern seas (given the specific heaviness of the water depicted). The colouring of the composition is primarily cold, with some whites, warm colour parts and accents.
