Object description
The painting by an unknown artist came from the Goluchowski collection. It is a waist-length portrait of a woman gazing directly at the viewer, dressed in a black lace gown with a pearl necklace around her neck. Women have worn pearl necklaces since the Renaissance period to complement their attire. The dress is adorned with ruffles and lace in the Polonaise style.
