Object description
In sacred art, fire and light have always been symbols of God’s presence, while decorative candlesticks fulfilled not only a practical but also a ritual function. The three-branched wooden candlestick carried a symbolic meaning – the Trinity, heavenly light, spiritual enlightenment. The base of the candlestick is carved in the form of a handle with three branches of stylised vegetal ornamentation, featuring perforations, and terminates in metal cups with serrated circular rims. The use of vegetal motifs lends the work decorative richness. The leafy forms are smoothly curved, with distinct veins that create a sense of dynamism. The vegetal ornament underscores the idea of rebirth, eternal life, and paradisiacal beauty. The three-branched candlestick is not merely a utilitarian object but an artistic and decorative piece, in which practical function is combined with spiritual and symbolic meaning.
