A small sculpture of an angel with flat conical wings and hands folded in prayer is carved not strictly from the front but in a barely noticeable head turn. The folk master has created a bright figure with a pensive face and symbolic wings, relying on the vision of the image drawn by his imagination without having a developed iconographic scheme. The angel's face, with small, close-set eyes, clear arcs of dark eyebrows, a straight, wedge-shaped nose and slightly protruding cheekbones, is decidedly generalised. Schematically elaborated curls surround the head. The squat figure of the angel is dressed in a dark-coloured robe, modelled with long engraved straight and curved lines that give the sculpture its three-dimensional appearance. The use of polychrome enhances the artistic interpretation and naive realism of the work.
