Object description
This work is part of a series of 13 plaques that were popular in the 16th century and are now kept in museums in the US, the UK, and other countries. It's a horizontal composition showing a young coachman driving a lavish carriage pulled by two lions. The carriage depicts allegorical female figures: Prosperity, with her back turned; Justice, holding scales in her hands; and Peace, holding an olive branch. The figures are located on the left side of the rear seat of the carriage, which resembles a throne. The artist showcased great skill in depicting numerous small details.
Inscriptions
On the reverse side are inscriptions: "53. G.N.M.L."; "№ С-ІІ-620 Львів ОКГ"; "№ С-ІІ-620 / Львів ОКГ".
