Object description
The sculpture of a seraph served as a decorative element in the sacred space. The head of the seraph has been partially preserved, with fragmentary traces of decoration remaining, allowing us to imagine its original decorative splendour. The rounded face with generalised features resembles a child's face, characteristic of Baroque sacred sculpture, symbolising purity and harmony. The seraph's gaze is directed to the side, which gives the image liveliness and spaciousness. Below the head are wings, treated in a generalised manner, with a relief imitating the texture of feathers. The sculptural image exhibits a harmony of proportions, smooth lines, and the decorative role of the wings. The touching innocence is emphasised by the simplicity of forms, the absence of sharp details, and the smoothness of the outlines. Despite the losses, the form remains expressive, allowing us to see the artistic idea.
