In Late Flowers, the artist depicts the vastness of the mountains through the flowers, the point of reproduction of this composition is situated almost right up against the plants themselves. In the foreground of the horizontal composition, along the lower edge, the artist places a row of mountain flowers, the favoured "Umbel" inflorescences which are often found in landscapes of this type, on tall stems, through which a complex of blue-green and purple mountains can be seen in the background. A strip of restless dark blue with purple-orange clouds is depicted above. Despite the expected tension of a setting, pre-thunderous sky, the atmosphere of the painting is very calm. The artist appears as a subtle colourist in his works. Pieces become enigmatic due to the combination of incongruous colours, such as yellow, black, pink, blue and green, which convey a state of tension or melancholic contemplation, and conversely, a lyrical mood using earthy hues of yellow, purple, red and blue, the same as in "Windthrow".
