Karol Szaszkiewicz was the husband of Justyna Zuzanna from the Dulski family. Karol's figure is depicted in a solemn pose, turned three-quarters to the right, wearing a "Queue" ("tail") – fashionable in the 18th century male wig (with the hair combed to the back and tied in a tail with a black ribbon). The provincial artist executed the portrait in a restrained colour scheme, the accent of which is the blue of the man's overcoat, accentuated by a white shirt with a jabot. In his work, the author tried to follow European examples: in the portrait, the man is serious and respectful rather than majestic and powerful, which was characteristic of portraits of earlier periods. A similar portrait of Karol Szaszkiewicz exists in the collection of the Lviv National Art Gallery there is (Ж-1447).
