Object description
Wiktor Ignacy Baworowski: Count of the "Prus II" coat of arms, grandfather of Wiktor, who founded the Ossolineum; member of the Sejm of Estates of Galicia. His wife was Julia from the Marchocki family. A half-length image of the man is painted in a subdued colour scheme against a dark background. The man wears an olive green jacket over a white blouse with a jabot; he is wearing a "Queue" ("tail") – fashionable in the 18th-century male wig (with the hair combed to the back and tied in a tail with a black ribbon), and over his ears curls, you can see "the wings of a dove". The detailed portrait of Baworowski, typical for provincial artists, captures his features in detail and a graphically flat manner. The inscription at the top of the portrait reads: "Wiktor Hr. Baworowski".
