Object description
The dynamic figure of the Archangel Michael in metal armour towers over the defeated Satan, symbolising the victory of good over evil. The full-length figure of the saint is reproduced in the image of a young man. The artist has conveyed serenity and composure in the face with graceful, skilfully carved regular features. A subtle smile on his lips conveys the joy of victory. The sculpture's composition is full of expression: the agile figure of the saint, his arms outstretched, his hair in unruly curls, and his left foot pointing forward. The somewhat restrained dynamics of Archangel Michael's movement and his state of inner readiness meet the requirements of the time, creating the image of a warrior-defender.
