Object description
Philip V of Anjou (December 19, 1683 – July 9, 1746) was the first representative of the Bourbon dynasty on the Spanish throne, reigning as the King of Spain from 1700. Against a dark background of the canvas, there is a waist-up portrait of a young man wearing a grey wig, turned three-quarters to the left, with his gaze directed towards the viewer. The man is dressed in black attire with a turn-down collar with white lining. He wears a blue ribbon on the right shoulder, over which lies a golden chain with the Order of the Golden Fleece of the Habsburgs. On the right side of the chest, there is another order. The overall colour palette of the portrait is dark, allowing the viewer to focus on the facial features and the mood of Philip V.
