Object description
A small sculpture from the Murovane village presents a polychrome figure carved from a single piece of wood. The angel is represented on his knees, his arm with a disproportionately large hand pressed against his body. He is dressed in a long tunic and a light shirt with a small collar and buttons. The folds of the clothing, created in the characteristic manner of folk artists, are rendered as cannelures, which are rhythmically repeated in the upper part of the figure and turn into small deepenings of short lines imitating movement in the lower part. The face is elongated, with round, rosy cheeks and wide eyes. The head is covered with dark hair, parted evenly and styled in neat curls on both sides. The rounded folds of the angel's clothes add to the coherence of the image. This sculpture is a pair to С-I-1251.
