Object description
Against a dark background is a waist-up portrayal of Christ, with his body turned to the right and his head three-quarters to the right. He gazes intently with wide-open eyes somewhere beyond the picture. His lips are open, perhaps in an attempt to say something. Drops of blood appear from his dark hair, from under the crown of thorns on the Saviour's forehead. On his left shoulder, Jesus holds a wooden cross with both hands, which seems to merge with the dark backdrop of the artwork. The artist depicted Christ's hands as gentle and delicate, without scratches or wounds. A striking accent of the painting is Jesus' attire – a white robe with a gold line and a red cloak.
