Object description
Against the dark background there is a waist-length figure of Katarzyna Venino, the wife of a Lviv councilor. The artist conveys the strict and clear features of the portrayed woman. Her face with a high forehead, drawn together eyebrows, tightly closed lips, and a clearly visible chin reflects the image of a strong-willed and powerful woman. Katarzyna is represented in a blue low-necked dress. On her head, there is a woman's headscarf that hides her hair and falls down on the shoulders. The red drapery is a bright spot in the painting. It makes the work more vibrant as well as adds to the nobility of the image. The family bourgeois coat of arms is depicted on the left. The portrait is full of tension, which is achieved through dark dramatic colors.
