Object description
The painting depicts a pastoral scene. Under an old, ruined stone wall, there is a small shepherd boy in tattered clothing. The author portrays him as rosy-cheeked and cheerful. In both hands, the boy holds pieces of bread, and a basket of food is beside him. Four resting sheep are depicted in the lower right part of the work. In the distance is a cityscape with a blue sky and white clouds.
