Object description
The full-length figure of the angel is depicted as a young man leaning on his left knee. The elongated torso of the figure, its extended head, narrow shoulders, and massive short legs indicate the work of a folk artist. By giving primary attention to the angel's face, the author outlines large almond-shaped eyes framed by heavy eyelids, a wide nose, and a large mouth. The young man's hair lies close to his head, sculpted with confident, shallow lines. The angel's stern facial expression is unwavering and restrained, and his athletic body is static. The immobility is disrupted by the drapery that descends from the right shoulder, enveloping the hips with massive folds formed by recessed irregularly shaped planes with pointed edges. The static sculpture of the angel is full of calm and balance.
