Object description
The sculptures of cherubs, which had tiny wings in addition to their heads, performed auxiliary and decorative functions. Each face was endowed with individual features, creating an enticing variety of images. Two heads of cherubs with short necks are depicted leaning against each other. Nothing distracts from the expressive, rounded faces of the angels with plump cheeks, snub noses, and subtle smiles on their lips. Their heads are framed by massive strands of wavy hair, worked with deep rhythmic lines. The tiny wings are schematically represented by a pattern of straight, short lines that reflect the appearance of feathers.
