Object description
Cherubim are typically depicted as heads with wings adorned with beautiful and bright visages. They are ethereal spirits that reside near the Lord. The sculpture of a cherubim originates from the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in the Lopatyn village. The round angel's head is sculpted by a master with characteristic plump cheeks, a clearly defined chin, wide-open eyes, a snub nose, and a barely noticeable smile on the lips. The cherub's head is covered with massive curls with a flaring fringe, typical of Baroque art, which rises above the high forehead. On the short neck, there are unfolded tiny wings with a carved pattern that resembles the structure of feathers.
