Object description
A round-shaped tsuba (maru-gata) with a wedge-shaped hole (nakago-ana) in the centre and a hole (hitsu-ana) for kozuka to the left of it. On the front side left of the centre, hole is a vertical inscription consisting of two characters. The surface of the tsuba is smooth with a carved image to the right of the central hole which consists of three elements: a figure in the form of a twisted horn, a diamond-shaped figure in the form of a grid and an abstract figure with symmetrically placed segments. Both sides of the tsuba are decorated with images of cherry and plum blossoms with applied petals and chaotic vertical strokes.
