Object description
On the decorative Baroque stand is a cross with the Crucifixion, made in imitation of Western iconography. Christ is nailed to the cross with three nails, his feet laid on top of each other, and his palms open. His athletically built body is covered with numerous drops of blood, his arms are outstretched upward, and his legs are slightly bent at the knees. The sculptor depicted the Saviour deceased, with his head tilted to his right shoulder and his eyes closed. The master reproduces a straight, slightly elongated nose, prominent cheekbones, and sunken eyes under low brow outlines on the structurally detailed face. The decorative aspect of the composition is emphasised by a small loincloth around the hips, tied with a knot, modelled with shallow soft lines of folds. Above Christ's head is the traditional plate with the letters "INRI".
