Franciszka Ksawera Potocka was a daughter of Joachim Potocki and Ewa Kaniewska. The painting is an example of "age" portraits, i.e., images of one person at different ages – childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, which could be found in ancestral galleries. Franciszka Potocka is represented as a mature wealthy woman, wearing an appropriate dress, in a fashionable high wig, with a black ribbon around her neck, which women wore to hide their age. From the portrait looks a confident noblewoman who occupies a certain social and financial position. The waist-length image of Franciszka Ksawera is painted in an official manner. There is an inscription "Franciszka z Potockich Sa/dowska…» on the left side of the canvas. While working on the painting, the artist used exquisite colors and proved to be a skilled colorist. Borys Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery houses portraits of Franciszka at a young age (Ж-4201, Ж-1115), which also come from Chortkiv.
