Together with his wife Margit Selska, Roman Selskyi often travelled to the Odesa and Kherson regions and visited the Crimea. Using broad brushstrokes and rich colours, the artist painted generalised images of southern Ukraine rather than specific landscapes. One of the artist's favourite subjects was the image of sunlit coastal houses. At the centre of the composition is a single-storey house with a veranda and garden in the foreground, surrounded by green bushes and trees. The roofs of other buildings in the small village are outlined with coloured spots. The outlines of mountains are visible against the grey-purple sky.
