Biography
Stanislaw Wyspianski was born in 1869 in Krakow. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was a member of the Young Poland movement, and art editor of the weekly Życie (Life). Stanislaw Wyspianski is known as a playwright and poet, modernist painter, and designer. The artist died in November 1907. He was buried in Krakow.
Object description
This is a study of a head of a teenage girl with shoulder-length hair. The head is slightly tilted forward. The gaze of slightly squinted and focused eyes is directed downwards. The lips of the portrayed girl are stiff.
Inscriptions
At the bottom there is an illegible inscription in Polish and the date 1890. On the lower right side of the work there is the author monogram.
