Object description
The canonical image of the Old Testament Trinity, which is most common in Eastern Christian iconography, is depicted in a conditional arch with a magnificent decorative relief ornament. The plot is based on the biblical story of the appearance of three angels to Abraham in the image of young men. In the center of the icon, there are figures of three angels, the middle of which has widely spread wings. They are depicted with blessing gestures, their faces are modeled with bleached ocher and painted in a planar manner. The figures are depicted sitting at a table covered with a white tablecloth. A knife, fork, bowl, and apples lie on the table. In the foreground of the icon, there is a jug of wine. Being painted in a green color with scattered red and white flowers across it, the land takes up a lot of space in the work. In the background, one can see Abraham kneeling. On the left of the icon, there is Abraham's house, with the head of Sarah being visible at the door. Above the angels, on an engraved golden background, there is a silhouette of an oak tree with thick green leaves. The composition of the icon does not follow the Byzantine style. It is a traditional local compositional scheme of Galician icon painting of the 17th century. The icon is built on the contrast of cold colors.
