The painting is attributed to an unknown 16th-century Dutch artist. It represents "The Resurrection of Lazarus", the well-known biblical story. The plot is narrative and reveals the content of the story in stages. In a central scene depicted in the foreground, against an imaginary architectural landscape, Christ is blessing Lazarus, surrounded by the apostles and Martha. On the left, among the surprised crowd of Jews, Dives in a yellow tunic looks in amazement at the resurrected one. On the right, in the background, the artist represented two scenes: Jesus meeting Martha on the way to Bethlehem and Lazarus standing in front of the Dives' house. On the left, two founders are depicted on their knees before the coffin. They are dressed in black cassocks and hold a cross to their chests. A coat of arms with a bear on a yellow background is presented nearby.
