Object description
The Evangelist's figure from the ambon of St. Stanislaus Church is notable for its dynamic and expressive pose – the tension is felt not only in the gesture of the outstretched arms but also in the tilt of the head. The sculptor has skilfully reproduced natural facial expressions, the dynamics of hair curls typical of Baroque sculpture, and the human body in great detail, with every finger and toe worked out. The Evangelist's clothes are covered with dynamic folds created by large geometric planes and undercuts.
