Object description
A full-length graceful figure of the saintly woman is placed on the carved hexagonal stand. Her body is curved in an expressive pose; her head is thrown back. Her arms are theatrically spread, and her right leg is put forward, imitating a gait – everything is subject to movement. On the woman's head is wavy hair combed back. It falls down to her back and shoulders in free voluminous strands. The young woman's pretty face is conveyed in an expression of deep melancholy thoughtfulness. The saint wears a long dress with a waistband that wraps the figure, shaping the body's curves. The garments are modelled by delicate lines that sometimes refract, forming recessed planes. Draperies are carved with moderate vertical strands, which, falling down, turn into raging waves of folds, rolling on top of each other. The sculptor draws attention to the inner world of the saint through external dynamics.
