Object description
Madonna is a traditional depiction of the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus (sometimes without him) in Western European and mainly Italian art. This painting represents the theme "Madonna and Child with Cherubim" or "Madonna with Child and Angels". The artist used a golden palette to create a painting with a warm atmosphere. The centre of the composition is the figure of Madonna in golden robes, who sits and gently but firmly holds Jesus in her arms. The Virgin Mary's gaze is entirely concentrated on the child, and Jesus looks at the viewer with a soft smile. In his left hand, he holds a rose, usually a symbol of the Virgin Mary, and with his right hand, he blesses the viewer.
