The image of Christ with a sheep on his shoulders is a symbol of hope and mercy, as he seeks to find the lost and care for the suffering. In the Good Shepherd theme, the main idea of the Gospel is symbolically conveyed – the Son of God came to save every sinner. Christ is depicted as if carrying the sinful person on His shoulders so that through His cross of resurrection and ascension, the sinner could reconcile with God. The sculpture from the ambon of the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Navariia village presents a full-length figure in a contrapposto pose with his right leg extended. To enhance the dynamism of the figure's movement, a Baroque balance is applied, adding vibrant expressiveness to the sculpture. The man's ascetic face reflects emotional tension. The horizontally incised wrinkles, high forehead with low eyebrow arches, widely open eyes, and prominent cheekbones convey the image of the inner excitement of the portrayed figure. The dynamics of the image are added by the massive curls of dishevelled hair. Christ is dressed in a long tunic, girded at the waist, modelled with draperies that act as solitary sculptural elements. Their broad surfaces and ragged edges resemble crumpled paper.
